Golden Week In Hong Kong, Part 2

Day 3 – May 2 – Chung!

On my third day of Hong Kong, I met up with Chung! He had flown all the way from Canada/The Bay to hang out with me in his hometown. I hadn’t seen him since the night before I left for Japan, which was clearly a long time ago. It was great to be able to catch up with him halfway around the world. There’s something especially cool being able to say that.

My family took us around Kowloon and Mong Kwok area, where we are plenty of street food. I had so much dim sum foods, and calamari, and boba, and stinky tofu… omg my mouth was in heaven! Later that night, they treated the two of us to stone pot dinners, which was also hella good. I loved being able to spend time with my family as well as eat like a king!

Day 4 – May 3 – Ocean Park

The following day we all went to Ocean Park, Hong Kong’s premier amusement park. This was definitely in my top three of things I did while I was in HK. I had an absolute ball while at Ocean Park! Siobhan, Chung and I spent the entire day on rides, eating tasty park food (roasted pork over rice… OMG!!!), seeing the animals, and flirting and checking out the hot performers.

We were clearly liked by the staff goers. We went to the same show at least three times, that featured some really cute acrobats. Then we flirted with some of the staff members around the park, and even got a wink from one of them. I think he was coming on to us! The rides were great, took lots of pictures, and ended the day with a spectacular fountain-lights show that was so damn cheesy it hurts. All of this made the perfect combination of what I’d consider a fun day out in HK.

Lastly, before we ended the night, we went out and watched a 3D Softcore Porno, Sex & Zen. It was aiite- certainly had its funny moments, and I can now say that I watched a 3D porno (in Cantonese!) Not very many people can say that. But before that, we indulged in some really good Chinese desserts and street food. My stomach was happy the entire time.

Day 5 – May 4 – Past & Present

Today was museum day since it was free, and a lot of other different sites at that. To begin the day, we all indulged in some good ass jeouk/congee. Mine was full of pig parts, so it was absolutely delicious. Afterwards, we stopped by a famous temple in New Territories before heading over to the Heritage Museum, which displayed some cool exhibits and included a Pixar exhibition.

After half the day had passed, we rode the tram up to Victoria Peak to see supposedly one of the great views of Hong Kong’s skyline. Why supposedly? Cause it was hella foggy when we got up there, haha. Chung and I left early from the group to go take a ferry to see the skyline from Tsim Tsa Chiu, and cracked open a few beers to enjoy it. Afterwards, went to see the Academy of Stars and realized I need to freshen up my HK Stars knowledge! Went to a Cha Cha Tang after for some good ol’ Trip Noodles (OMG so good) that I hadn’t had in ages! You notice the trend here? It’s all about the food.

More to come...
